New Blog for Berlin

Not that anyone actually reads my blog, but I had to make a separate blog especially for my trip to Berlin as a requirement for the class. I'll link it below. I know I said I was going to be posting every day leading up to the trip, but my computer logged me out and I was too lazy to log back into blogger for a few days. Anyway, I'll probably just be blogging from the Berlin blog for a while. It is called Caitlin in Berlin which is a lot of "lin"s but whatever I couldn't think of anything more original.

Wisdom teeth and winning

I woke up at 6:30 this morning because I got my wisdom teeth taken out. I have been terrified of this for the past week, but it was truly WAY easier than expected. The dentist was nice, and I was making him and the entire office laugh with my sarcasm and pessimism. The extraction went really well. It took longer to inject the anesthesia into my mouth than it did to remove the teeth. No kidding, it took about 2 minutes. If that. I was very impressed. I can sort of talk normally now too, but I still can't feel my face. That's probably a good thing at this point though. I plan on doing nothing and eating ice cream all day.

In other news, yesterday I sent a Facebook message to the European company EyeEm because they were listed in a New York Times article about start-up companies in Berlin. Out of all the companies, they seemed the most interesting to me. I explained my project and asked if I could possibly profile one of the founders for my photo slideshow project. Today them emailed me back saying that I was welcome to come in and talk to them and they'd figure out who wanted to participate. I am extremely excited about this. Their company is similar to Instagram and I'm really grateful that they agreed to help me out. I'll link their site below because I honestly think it's pretty cool.

There are only 2 weeks left until I leave for Berlin and I cannot wait. I know it will be a great experience and having an idea of who I'm profiling makes it all the more exciting. I'll try to remember to post again tomorrow and give an update on how the healing of my wisdom teeth is going! Have a great day!

Countdown to Berlin: 15 DAYS!

As you may have been able to tell from the title of this post, I'm going to Berlin in just about 2 weeks! I'm incredibly excited. I've never been to Germany and after doing some research it seems like Berlin is a pretty cool city. I'm also excited about the opportunity to make new friends with the other people on my trip, and hopefully I'll be able to meet a lot of locals as well.

I emailed a guy who co-founded a social media company similar to Instagram this morning and asked him if he would like to be my subject for my photojournalism project and I'm really hoping he'll get back to me because he seems really interesting.

Recently I've been trying to figure out how to use this camera I got from the university so that I can practice taking photos for the trip, and so far I've actually managed pretty well for myself. However, I've discovered that cameras are actually kinda heavy.

I'm not really sure what to blog about, I'm not particularly good at this blogging thing. I want to blog each day on the trip so that I can remember what I did and where I visited, ate, shopped, etc. That's going to be my goal. I also really want to vlog the trip, so hopefully I can keep up with that. I think once I get into it then it shouldn't be too hard to remember. In preparation for the trip I'm going to try to blog each day leading up to it. Maybe. I can't guarantee this will go very well, especially seeing as I'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I'm sort of a baby about that sort of thing and may not be in the mood. But I will try my hardest.

This post has been pretty random and scatterbrained but honestly that's just how my mind works most of the time so there's not much I can do about that. For now I'll leave you with an iconic landmark of Berlin, the Brandenburg gate. Hopefully I'll write again tomorrow!

Makeup Review: Maybelline BB Cream

I'm a little late to the party when it comes to trying out BB Creams. They've been a popular product for a while now and I never tried one because I wasn't all that interested in them, but recently I've been wanting to wear something lighter than a traditional foundation but I still wanted to even out my skin tone and eliminate redness.

I did a bit of research online and settled on trying out a drugstore one because I didn't want to spend a lot, and they're easier to get ahold of. After looking at reviews I settled on trying out the Maybelline BB Cream because it had decent reviews and was the cheapest one I could find, so that's a plus.

I fell in love with this product after only once use. The coverage was decent and I liked the finish. It also didn't leave me oily at the end of the day which was nice. I was sold. However after probably a week of wearing it every day I noticed that I was breaking out in places I don't normally, like on my cheeks. I'm not 100% sure it was due to the BB Cream but since I hadn't changed up anything else in my routine I think this might be the culprit.

I'll probably still use this every once and a while, but since my skin doesn't like it very much it isn't going to be my holy grail BB Cream. I'd say give it a try if you're curious because it is a good product, just be weary of the fact that it might break you out.

I have a problem

I have a bit of a shopping problem. Now normally, I'm picky when it comes to buying clothes and I don't usually find a bunch of things I want all at once. But this past week it has been a totally different story. I've bought 2 pairs of shorts, a dress, three identical shirts in different colors, a utility jacket and a tank top. My bank account is definitely suffering right now. I guess that's all part of trying to build a wardrobe in college when all you could wear in high school were school T-shirts everyday. Here's to not looking like a slob in class everyday.

Blogging in class...

So in my writing for electronic media class right now we're talking about blogs. It reminded me to post! However, since I'm in class I don't really have anything to say at the moment other than the fact that Florida's weather is bipolar. Last week I wore a coat to this class but this week I was sweating on the way to class. Also, it would be really humid the one day this week that I choose to wear my hair straight. On the bright side, I did manage to get a spot in fundamentals of production which I'm very happy about. It's really distracting to blog and listen in class at the same time so I'm going to go now. Until next time I post, have a nice life.

I suck

So I'll admit, I suck at blogging. I always have all these ideas, and I even start a lot of posts, but then I get distracted and nothing ever gets posted. I'm posting now because I finally have some free time. Also, I'm extremely excited for this weekend.

Tomorrow my best friend Courtney is coming to stay with me because it's her spring break. During my spring break me and Stefan went to visit Courtney up at her school, Georgia Southern, and it was a lot of fun. Needless to say I can't wait to see her.

This weekend we're driving down to Orlando to go to the YouTube conference, Playlist Live. We cannot wait. I'm probably most looking forward to meeting Jack and Finn Harries as well as Louise from Sprinkleofglitter and Zoe from Zoella, as well as their many other British YouTuber friends. It's gonna be such a good time. Our goal is to befriend all of them since most of them are around our age. We're a bit obsessed.

Tomorrow though we're getting together with Stefan and Alex to cook dinner in my apartment which could either turn out disastrous or really good. I'm going to make spaghetti and hopefully the boys (or most likely just Stefan) will clean since the cleaning up is mainly why I don't cook more often in the first place.

It's hard to believe that there's only a little more than a month left in my first year of college. It has passed by so fast already. I'm definitely a lot happier during the semester. I enjoy my classes more and I've gotten used to all the change that comes with starting a new phase of your life. It's still difficult sometimes but I've learned to deal with it and I've got a good support system in my friends, family and roommate.

I should probably go to sleep soon but I wanted to post a little update so that I can one day look back on this and remember things from the past. So to my future self: Hi, and to anyone else reading this I hope you have a good day.
