Not that anyone actually reads my blog, but I had to make a separate blog especially for my trip to Berlin as a requirement for the class. I'll link it below. I know I said I was going to be posting every day leading up to the trip, but my computer logged me out and I was too lazy to log back into blogger for a few days. Anyway, I'll probably just be blogging from the Berlin blog for a while. It is called Caitlin in Berlin which is a lot of "lin"s but whatever I couldn't think of anything more original.

Wisdom teeth and winning
I woke up at 6:30 this morning because I got my wisdom teeth taken out. I have been terrified of this for the past week, but it was truly WAY easier than expected. The dentist was nice, and I was making him and the entire office laugh with my sarcasm and pessimism. The extraction went really well. It took longer to inject the anesthesia into my mouth than it did to remove the teeth. No kidding, it took about 2 minutes. If that. I was very impressed. I can sort of talk normally now too, but I still can't feel my face. That's probably a good thing at this point though. I plan on doing nothing and eating ice cream all day.
In other news, yesterday I sent a Facebook message to the European company EyeEm because they were listed in a New York Times article about start-up companies in Berlin. Out of all the companies, they seemed the most interesting to me. I explained my project and asked if I could possibly profile one of the founders for my photo slideshow project. Today them emailed me back saying that I was welcome to come in and talk to them and they'd figure out who wanted to participate. I am extremely excited about this. Their company is similar to Instagram and I'm really grateful that they agreed to help me out. I'll link their site below because I honestly think it's pretty cool.
There are only 2 weeks left until I leave for Berlin and I cannot wait. I know it will be a great experience and having an idea of who I'm profiling makes it all the more exciting. I'll try to remember to post again tomorrow and give an update on how the healing of my wisdom teeth is going! Have a great day!

Countdown to Berlin: 15 DAYS!
As you may have been able to tell from the title of this post, I'm going to Berlin in just about 2 weeks! I'm incredibly excited. I've never been to Germany and after doing some research it seems like Berlin is a pretty cool city. I'm also excited about the opportunity to make new friends with the other people on my trip, and hopefully I'll be able to meet a lot of locals as well.
I emailed a guy who co-founded a social media company similar to Instagram this morning and asked him if he would like to be my subject for my photojournalism project and I'm really hoping he'll get back to me because he seems really interesting.
Recently I've been trying to figure out how to use this camera I got from the university so that I can practice taking photos for the trip, and so far I've actually managed pretty well for myself. However, I've discovered that cameras are actually kinda heavy.
I'm not really sure what to blog about, I'm not particularly good at this blogging thing. I want to blog each day on the trip so that I can remember what I did and where I visited, ate, shopped, etc. That's going to be my goal. I also really want to vlog the trip, so hopefully I can keep up with that. I think once I get into it then it shouldn't be too hard to remember. In preparation for the trip I'm going to try to blog each day leading up to it. Maybe. I can't guarantee this will go very well, especially seeing as I'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I'm sort of a baby about that sort of thing and may not be in the mood. But I will try my hardest.
This post has been pretty random and scatterbrained but honestly that's just how my mind works most of the time so there's not much I can do about that. For now I'll leave you with an iconic landmark of Berlin, the Brandenburg gate. Hopefully I'll write again tomorrow!
